Wing Ngan

I’m thrilled to be finally making friends with my Gocco ~ very much inspired by some of the Gocco greats like Magic Jelly, Lab Partners and Nebo Peklo. But how fantastic to stumble across a new find.
I love designer Wing Ngan’s work, he understands every Gocco quirk and uses it to its greatest advantage; he plays with it. His images are an infectious combination of bold simplicity and overprint complexity. And completely drool-worthy! Do check out his Ink Designer Flickr page and Etsy shop, I’m sure you’ll love it.
Go Go GOCCO!

I’ve have been terrified of it for far too long! Month after month I’ve spent gazing at it sick with longing. While it, with all it’s sparkling rare supplies, it’s book of cryptic instructions and it’s ‘oh, come on it’s easy peasy’ pictures, sits lazily in it’s corner mocking me. I can’t take it any more! It’s doing my head in! No more putting it off, no more ‘later’. It’s time has come. It’s time to dive in, take the bull by the handle…
…and book a course.
And this is the one I’m doing:
Print GOCCO Workshop
at the Pine Street Creative Arts Centre, Sydney.
Wednesday evenings from 29 July to 19 August.
Tutor: Craig Bunker
Wish me luck.
Feeling the Passion

I sketched this for Illustration Friday’s theme TANGO…
And I’m hoping like crazy that I’ve managed to side step at least some of the cliche. Although I’m wondering if that can only be done by the nimble feet of the worlds greatest dancers. This subject is truly loaded in cliche!
But the drama and passion inherent in Tango is hard to resist. So I borrowed a little from the fight aspect and a little from the dance, and had fun ripping up the flowers.
Munch and Sketch

In my creative space…
Tuscan toast with ricotta, honey and cinnamon and a cuppa…
(Delish breakie idea stolen from one of my favourite cafes)
Munching and scribbling…
(Some thoughts for this weeks IF theme)
Sketching and slurping…
(Probably my third small cup of coffee, I sketch a bit faster after this one)
Dribbling and slopping…
(Ink. I also blow it across the page. I’ve learnt all I know from Playschool)
Check out what’s happening in loads of lovely creative spaces here.

Inspired by the gorgeous balloon images in the previous post, this is my submission for the IF theme HOLLOW.
Such a gentle way to spend a sunny afternoon. Hope your weekend is wonderful. x
Lightness of being

My head has been in the clouds all week, I’m sure I can hear my Dad chuckling. Yes, it’s true, I’ve been day dreaming about balloons. Big, bright, beautiful balloons.
Balloons have always seemed like such a contradiction to me. On one hand, they are wonderfully ethereal, drifting serenely through the clean air above earth’s cluttered and chaotic surface…
…On the other hand, their fragile skins are filled with raging blasts of heat and the fate of the journeys undertaken in them ultimately lie at the mercy of the elements.
They are a fusion of passion and whimsy, an entirely romantic invention that I find endlessly fascinating and when I look at these gorgeous images I know I’m not the only one.
