A wicked wind
September 11th, 2009 § 18 Comments

This is as far as I’ve managed to get on my illustration for this weeks Illustration Friday theme, STRONG. I must admit it feels kinda strange posting a pencil drawing rather than a full colour image. But there was a quite a bit of work with all those wind tousled tresses. Anyway I should finish it this weekend, fingers crossed.

Feeling strong windy blows.
You are very good in illustration.
Loving the expression:)
Hope you are keeping well Alisa:)
Bye!
such a beautiful drawing and a lovely interpretation of the word..
Your illustration is amazing Alisa. The detail in the hair is awesome. I can’t imagine it looking any better with colour.
love it – this is a really great illo!
your illustration is looking quite fabulous
Your drawing perfectly captures many of the days we’ve had here in Perth (Western Australia) this past week.
Always such a pleasure to visit your place. Beautiful.
Frankly I love a pencil-drawing. I love the rawness. And your wind depiction is very evocative… gorgeous.
The september gales have hit hear, I can so…. relate to this pic. I love it
I love the movement and flow in your sketch, I can feel that wind, oh yes I can.
gorgeous! i love pencil drawings too ~ love the hair details
Oh! I can’t wait to see this in color. It’s lovely as it is!!!
I love the perspective in this, and yes although I am not used to seeing pencil sketches as much as colored pieces…trust me, I don’t think anybody will mind from this wonderful piece of art. Funny too, because its raining like CRAZY today, and he haven’t had rain in months.
Hi Alissa! I’m SO delayed in checking in with you and I must say, your posts are always so very interesting and charming all rolled into one. I love the pears post! Your little one stole the show. : ) And the T.S. Eliot quote you had there is….the same quote I lettered on my wedding invitation. I’ll have to email that to you.
Anyway, this post is GORGEOUS! Look at all of that work. I know what you mean about sketches “just not working” sometimes (and how we labor intensely to get them “right”)…and then some just whip out of you like they were ready to go. It’s strange and exciting I must say. Anyway, I shall be back, and you go girl! Can’t wait to see the color version. BTW, I just LOVED your Apron Strings Illo!! You are so very talented!
This is a good one! I know how hard it is to get all this to look natural and you have done it- I totally agree with Fransesca, don’t underestimate the gorgeousness of pencil!
By the way, I just read the pear story, how funny and how true…
Have fun,
Annamaria
Oh this is fab, as usual, Alisa! All that movement…can see it would take time to plan all that out! I’m impressed with the middle brolly …umbrellas that aren’t turned inside-out are hard enough to draw! I look forward to seeing the finished piece then!!
I like especially the illustrations of the umbrellas. Can almost feel the wind!
Ok, this has to be my favourite for this weeks theme.
I love the way you’ve captured the moment here.
It’s really beautiful, don’t under estimate the power and simplicity of a pencil drawing.
very nice composition!
