Goodness

December 2, 2009

Recently I was asked by the very lovely Shirley to participate in an International Art Exchange and no sooner had I said yes than ‘bing bong’ gorgeous art on my doorstep from two brilliant artists. Ooh, I so love that!

The first two images are of the four artist trading cards Shirley sent me, even though I was not on her list. She’s such a sweetie like that. This lady can work magic with watercolour. These ATCs all feature her dapper ‘Monsieur Olivet’, a gentleman mouse with a very refined palate. What a little cutie, thanks Shirley.

And these two are from the amazing Sarah aka Flossy P. How lucky am I! She sent two beautiful cards (check out that delicate line work) and a fabulous hand-painted mono-print of Sydney terraces which will look just gorgeous all framed up. Thank you Ms Flossy, I love them.

And now I have a confession. I haven’t sent mine off yet, and it is late. To my poor Exchange recipient, I hope you can forgive me. I did so badly want to share my swap in this post with these lovely goodies, but alas disaster struck (in the form of an ever curious small person) and I have to start over. Mind you, some might say that the extra wash (ie. jar of sludge brown water) has added a certain vitality to the piece, sadly I am not one of them. I will definitely post about it when I’ve finished it. That’ll be me, all by myself… with nobodies ‘help’… bless them.

Hey, sweet post! Thank you for the kind words :)
So glad you’ve gotten a few things so far. And don’t worry too much about being late, your recipient will get a lovely unexpected surprise when the time comes. And that’s never a bad thing!

I’m feeling a little better, as I haven’t gotten my work sent off, either. Ugh! I feel horrible about it because I was so excited to do it, and I have something good happening. …

Anyways, thanks for sharing the artwork you’ve received up to this point, and sorry about the extra “help”. I have three little helper-elves of my own… ;) (their cuteness always seems to get them out of trouble!)

    Hope you’re doing well. -chococatania

Oh they are all so lovely. Makes me realise I still have some ways to go in learning to work with watercolour. Sorry I couldn’t join in the fun, it would have been wonderful to see all the different styles out there. x

What beautiful things to receive! I was recently invited to participate in an exchange and had to turn it down because it was just bad timing, but I hope to do one some day, because this seems like such fun!

Isn’t the art exchange fantastic?! Every day (almost!) I’m receiving a beautiful work of art in the mail too. Sorry to hear about your piece meeting an untimely end… I’m sure the next one will be even more fabulous :) K

Commiserations for the ruined artwork. Ethan was trying to “help” me too. He has learnt to climb up on the stools at the kitchen bench, which is scary! I painted with him tugging on my elbow. I have received one artwork so far and sent something to Shirley on Tuesday. I’ll send you a package soon.
