Steve…

He’s a bit scruffy, a bit scrappy and was the scene of many a stitchy struggle… BUT he has got personality. And personality goes a long way! That’s Steve, our very own ever-so-slightly mangy feline. The kinda cat that has a debonair strut and a nonchalant air but who dissolves into puddles of dribble when you scratch his tummy.
Big softie! He has taken a shine to the smallest and she to him, Phew! My list of kid-related promises now has a big fat tick.

Don’t forget to saunter on over to Kirsty’s for many more creative cats.

So Inspiring ~ Mimi Kirchner

There were two things I promised I’d make for my poppets while they were little, a quilt and a softie; special things made with love especially for them. I figure if I manage nothing else I’ll be pretty chuffed with that, and with any luck so will they. So whilst searching for a little guidance, I stumbled across Mimi Kirchner. What an inspiring lady!

She creates such fantastic personalities. Illustrated characters that have pried themselves off the page and are off to do their own thing. Whether peeved pirates, preppy schoolgirls or cheeky strong men, everyone is decked in lovely handmade details and fabulous facial expressions!

To be honest, I have never been a huge lover of dolls. Frankly, the hard plastic ones give me chills. Trying to choose a baby doll for my littlest was tricky at best…
… But I love Mimi’s. They inspire me to wield needle and thread and try making a sumo wrestler, a crocodile wrestler… or maybe even a jelly wrestler… who knows, Mimi makes anything seem possible!

There’s a wonderful Storque spot on Mimi here and a free pattern for one of her dolls here.

Ahhh, Sundays…

I am thinking about my 2010 resolution list and have made a great start on
No.1:  Remember to do nothing.

I can plainly see that if I am going to live the happily balanced life I crave, Sunday Slobbing is crucial. And completely obvious to the rest of the sane population who are not trying to squeeze every extra second out of every day to work.

This is my perfect Sunday brekkie, New York Banana Pancakes, oozing with butter, maple syrup and served with slices of nectarine. These were made using a Domestic Goddess recipe… love Nigella! They turned out just as I remembered. Whisking me back to a freezing February morning in New York, crunching through snowy Central Park and stumbling into a cozy diner. I was very pregnant, completely ravenous and the pancakes were sublime. In fact all three of us enjoyed them, I felt fluttery baby kicks for twenty minutes afterward.

Trust me, eat these and lounge about all morning and a good part of the afternoon in your pjs, perusing your favourite magazines and I promise your soul will be restored and your belly, happily round. Hope your weekend was decadent.

Where Am I?
